










Bridgecity acquired this lot at an auction. As construction commenced on the raw lot, Robel made contact with someone who was able to get pieces of the bleachers from the Whitaker Middle School before it was demolished (this is what gave the project its name). Robel decided to take the wood and refinish it for use as stair treads in this new project. He also located some beautiful reclaimed wood flooring from the ReBuilding Center. And so it was that the condos were built, piece by piece.
By late summer of 2007, the construction was almost complete, and so we issued press releases to local media. The first article appeared in the Portland Observer. A second article appeared in the St. John's Sentinal. Finally, the third article appeared in the Homes section of the Sunday Oregonian on November 18, 2007. We held and open house the same day the article ran, and saw roughly 100 people come through the units that day.
